Nickerson, KS – Cassoday, KS

Day 25

This particular ride was really pretty simple but we had a great stay in the First United Methodist Church the night before.  We woke up and cooked some oatmeal and had our favorite, peanut butter and bagels.  We made sure to clean everything and even through down a couple more slam dunks to warm up our bodies before getting on the bike.  We truly had a lot of fun today.

We were on a tight time schedule because we were going to be welcomed by the Kansas Alzheimer’s association in Newton, KS at 4pm.  After finishing our ride in Cassoday, KS (I know what you are thinking and yes it is the Prairie Chicken capital of the world!)we drove about 30 miles to Newton, KS where we met our party.  There were balloons and a small group of people there to encourage us and thank us for our ride.  We were able to meet some wonderful people.  They all told great stories and were very light hearted.  It was a truly refreshing time as we spoke about great times we have had and heard stories of how people have been affected by the disease.

Following the party we drove down to Wichita, KS to spend the night and have a rest day the next day.  Special thanks to the mother of fellow rider Cameron Hamilton who provided us with the hotel.  We took a dip in the pool and hot tub, joined by the Jury’s and even Nana (Tyler’s grandmother).  It was a great time and we all enjoyed the good nights rest.

The rest day was pretty uneventful but all I got to say is this.  Mitch, Cameron, and myself went to Red Robin for dinner.  The burger was great but all the balloons in the restaurant made it even better.  We didn’t have a car so we walked about 30 minutes to the movie theatre.  Cameron got so hot he walked down the street with his shirt off and held out his thumb like a hitch hiker.  It was so funny my stomach hurt.  We then bought our tickets for Toy Story 3 but first spent about 4 bucks a piece on the arcade.  We laughed like school boys and I killed every virtual death star on the Star Wars video game.  We then watched the movie which was the best cartoon I have ever seen.  If you have not seen Toy Story 3 yet then you need to go now!
