June 15th, Eads, Co - Scott City, KS
Day 22
I was very encouraged and motivated to ride today as we rode in honor of someone very special to me. Rowe Hamilton, family friend and father of one of my best friends, was affected by Alzheimer’s through his mother, Katie Hamilton. We rode in honor of his family and Katie today. I never met Katie but if she brought up a man like Daddy Rowe then she had to be special. Love you Daddy Rowe and the whole Hamilton clan.
Today’s ride was adjusted some as we added about 25 miles to shorten some other days. The terrain was flat and we rode 105 miles. Also we crossed into the state of Kansas.

5 states left to go on our way to the Atlantic Ocean.
Like Forrest Gump says, it is funny the things you recollect. Today on the ride my most vivid memories are of the animals we saw. I saw a dead cat, a box turtle, some cattle, horses, and a rather large jack rabbit (or as Tyler thought it was called, a “Jackelope”)
We were once again very blessed to be able to stay at a Church in Scott City, KS. Pastor Rick let us into the youth center, which is called Area 96, and we were welcomed again by ping pong tables, pool tables, and foosball. But, everyone is afraid to play Lori Jury in foosball, she is a real champ. We had showers, a full kitchen, and felt very pampered.
Before going into the church we ran into a couple cyclists. One was a woman who raising money for Haiti and the other one was a man that was doing something you wouldn’t believe. He was a unicyclist that was going cross country. We had talked about it before but now we got to ask the guy all the questions we had. The guy was pretty crazy and we really enjoyed hearing about his journey from Virginia to this point.
We are continuing to be blessed with great weather and are trying to soak up every bit of memories we are making. Continue to pray for us as we embark on the flattest, most boring state of Kansas.
